Problems within a relationship may also have non-sexual causes: worries about finance, children, problems at work - these difficulties need to be worked out before any sexual problems can be dealt with. Some partners have non-complementary libidos - she 'wants it' all the time, he wants it occasionally - or vice versa. Some partners place unachievable expectations on the other partner to done quickly, to enjoy every position, to 'lie there and take it', to do it at any hour, to do it better. As is the case with men, lack of desire in women can be of either physical or psychological origin.

Possible physical causes in females include:
Anemia
Alcoholism and drug abuse.
Generalized disorders, such as diabetes.
Hyperprolactinaemia - a disorder in which the pituitary gland is overactive.
Hormone changes with the menstrual cycle, pregnancy - menopause
Vaginismus
Vaginal dryness (difficulties triggering natural lubrication during sex)
Cystitis (infection of the bladder and urethra.).
Inability to relax vaginal muscles enough to allow intercourse.
Inadequate vaginal lubrication preceding and during intercourse.
Inability to attain orgasm.
Burning pain on the vulva or in the vagina with contact to those areas

Psychological causes include:
Depression.
Stress and anxiety.
Hang-ups from childhood.
Past sexual abuse or rape.
Latent lesbianism.
Serious problems with the husband/partner.
Not having enough time to relax
A partner who is unwilling or does not like sex
A partner who is suffering from impotence or Premature Ejaculation
Unresponsiveness( lack of interest in sex)
