The male sex organ is a subject of focus and interest for men and women around the globe. If you have a member (or even if you don’t), check out this true-or-false quiz to test your penis knowledge. Good luck!

1. The human male has the largest penis of all primates.

(True. Close ancestors, including chimpanzees and apes, have very little to compare to modern man. In fact, human males are the only primates to get an erection due to blood flow; monkeys have a bone in their penis.)

2. Fetal erections can occur in the womb.

(Creepy, but true. The male fetus is capable of sustaining an erection during the third trimester of pregnancy.)

3. An ejaculate stream travels at a rate of 32 mph.

( False. Nearly the human land speed record, the initial squirt of ejaculate travels at 28 mph.)

4. Smoking can shorten the erect penis by as much as a centimeter.

(True. Smoking affects blood circulation, which is a main factor in erection size.)

5. There is a correlation between flaccid penis size and erection size.

(False. Smaller flaccid penises may grow to a larger size when erect, while their larger counterparts don’t appear to grow as much when aroused. The two types are known as grow-er and show-er.)

6. The average man will ejaculate 7,200 times in his lifetime.

(True. At two tablespoons a pop, that equates to about 14 gallons of ejaculate fluid.)

7. Ithyphallophobia is the fear of losing an erection.

(False. It’s actually the fear of seeing an erect penis. Medomalacuphobia is the fear of losing an erection.)

8. A brain is not necessary for ejaculation.

(Sad but true. The spinal cord controls ejaculatory function.)

9. Most penises in the world are circumcised.

(False. Around the world, only 30% of males over age 15 have circumcised penises.)

10. The longest penis recorded in medical history was 14 inches long.

(False. It was only 13.5 inches. For comparison, the average penis is between five and six inches long.)
